One of our highly experienced Radiologists will guide a small needle into the area to take a sample. This is commonly used to evaluate abnormalities in organs such as the breast, thyroid, liver, and lymph nodes. The procedure is typically performed under local anaesthesia, involves minimal discomfort.

There is no radiation involved in guided biopsies. With some breast biopsies, we place a marker using a mammogram machine, which does have ionising radiation but most services which fall under interventional radiology have little risk.
